I made a video game!!!!!

It's a downloadable .exe file. If you don't trust random .exe files then don't download it.

The game for all intents and purposes is completely broken and it has no purpose. GLHF!!!!

Blizzcon recap… and beyond old post

Good morning all

This is a pretty good depiction of what Blizzcon was like. Kids were going bananas (us included) with flashing lights and people breaking down and crying. We got to try out Diablo 3, WOW Cataclism, and some Starcraft Heart of the Swarm. We were able be part of the crowd for the Starcraft 2  GSL finals and the Blizzcon tourney itself. If you're a fan of Blizzard games, then you should definitely make the trip out to California for the Blizzon weekend. More pictures will be added later.

Site downtime – Dealing with spammers

Good day all

The site has been down for about 2 weeks and I apologize. over the course of this year we've getting getting all kinds of pings and comment from various spam locations and it resulted in us getting suspended from our host. This means that for the time being comments are disabled until i can find a solution.

We have a new podcast incoming this month, and several reviews for newer games. We also are going to pick our games of the year too. Horray!

Fall lineup is upon us – Super Meat Boy completed

Good morning

Found this picture somewhere on the reddit machine. Anyway, I beat like 10+ video games in the past months but I haven't written any reviews. I will soon remedy this in the near future.

There are quite a few big name and top teir games coming out in the upcoming month. We got the new Batman game, the new Elder Scrolls game, Uncharted 3, and probably some other games too. But none of that is important right now, what is important is that I beat Super Meat Boy finally.

Yes that's right! I sat down and grinded out hour after hour until I had finished my goal. The final level on Super Meat Boy is a doozy, but I just focused on the good times and blocked out the bad and eventually I fought through the pain. And I didn't even break a controller doing so! Anyway, enjoy the new reviews!

Summer downtime. No SC2 tourneys :(

Good morning all

The Starcraft 2 Utah scene has been pretty dry recently and I wish some of our boss nerd organizers would set up some tourneys.  I have been working with a BYU club to host a SC2 Tournament at the end of September but that's like 3 months away!

I've been trying to track and watch all the great tournaments going on right now. There's the NASL, IPL, GSL, and tons of random other ones. And there's always great players streaming and the ever informative /r/starcraft on the reddit machine. We live in a glorious time when so much SC2 content can be accessed so easily. It's far too time consuming to watch all the matches but it doesn't hurt to try.

Happy action fun time!

Good morning

So the past couple weeks unfortunately I haven't been playing much SC2. Before the Provo library tournament I made a small push to get into masters, and although I did get rank 1 in my diamond division with a pretty decent win-loss ratio, I don't think that my match making rating is quite high enough yet. Well, I'm sure I'll have time during the summer to give it another go. I have a lot of respect for SC2 players who can grind out hundreds of games, learn from their mistakes and improve, and not punch holes in their walls and kick their dog. I believe it really takes a special personality and a specific set of skills to get into the high masters league. Hopefully some day I can train my brain and get there.

But I have been playing through several console games and been having a very fun time. I beat God of War 3 during this last winter break, but I felt like I needed to beat it again on "hard" before I could really give it a legitimate review, so I'm about 80% though the game again now. God of War 3 is amazing. I beat the Call of Duty: Black Ops single player campaign this week. I didn't enjoy the campaign as much as I did MW1 or MW2, but it is a step up from World at War. I guess it makes sense since developer Infinity Ward made the MW games and Trearch has been filling in the gaps. I'm not gonna do a review on black ops cause I have no desire to play the multiplayer, and I'd be judging the game unfairly by the single player alone. The single player experience could be described as a "meh......3/5". I don't get what all the fuss and 25+ million copies sold is all about.

The funnest experience I've had with games in the past couple months was playing through Super Mario RPG with my wife. We both played it on two separate screens side by side. Originally when we started playing though it there were 3 of us, but due to scheduling conflicts there were just 2 of us in the end. We had a total blast! I beat it originally on the SNES when it first came out, but that was like 15 years ago. Super Mario RPG is amazing.

Anyway, Horray!

Provo Library SC2 tourney results

Good morning

Last Saturday May 14, 2011 we held our Starcraft 2 tourney at the Provo Library with a turnout of 30 players. The results can be found here: http://challonge.com/sc2provolibrary

1st Nadaviking

2nd Amandil

3rd Meva

We all had the privlidge to watch some really entertaining games throughout the day, and hopefully everyone in attendance got their Sc2 fill. We did start a bit late due to internet issues, but eventually we got it all worked out and just about everyone got to play on their own computers. I think the whole guild cOn was there and they provided some of the funnest  games of the day.

I would like to thank my beautiful wife Emily for helping organize and track the brackets, Andy for helping the whole time, my wonderful mom for going out of her way to provide ice water and snacks (out of her own pocket), Mark for helping at the start and letting us use his computer, "thejosh" for providing some excellent commentating, Matt for supporting and doing some commentating, Sean brown for helping us, the network admin guy at the Provo library, Ignite for helping promote the event from his site, and thank you for everyone that came to the event and participated. I love Starcraft 2 and I'm so happy there is a community here in Utah for it.

Here are some pics of the event and a movie
